Hi Bus is an Android app which will help you figure out when your bus will be arriving and much more. This app works anywhere on Oahu. What inspired me to write this app was actually having to take the bus and deal with everyday annoyances/struggles that almost all other bus riders face. Some major things I ran across were...

  • Is the bus on time today?

    • The whole purpose of this application is to allow everyone to have access to HEA (Honolulu Estimated Arrival) real-time bus arrival times from their phone.

    This feature is available in both Hi Bus and Hi Bus Pro.

  • Do I have time to do anything else before I leave?

    • Knowing the exact real-time arrival of your bus allows you to decide what exact time you need to leave to catch your bus. You won't have to guess and leave early because the bus *might* be early today. This enables you to know whether you have enough time to do something.

    This feature is available in both Hi Bus and Hi Bus Pro.

  • Where does this bus go and where does this bus stop?

    • I was able to use Google Maps to show a line on the map of a bus's route and points on the map of where a bus stops along its route

  • Where is my nearest bus stop?

    • The Pro version of Hi Bus allows you to figure this out by searching by your location OR a point on a map. It then searches around you (or that point) and finds nearest bus stops. You can then decide which is your closest bus stop.

  • Where is the bus compared to my location?

    • Every 2 minutes or so buses with a GPS system report their location. I use this location that they report to display on the map exactly where that bus was reported at. I also can find you (if you want) so you can see that as well.

  • I wish I wouldn't have to keep checking all the time to see if my bus (or even multiple buses) is going to be late or early

    • My newest update has now included a bus tracker. My app will track a bus (or buses) you want to ride and it will check automatically for you and alert you if the bus is running behind schedule, ahead of schedule, or if it is on time.

    You don't even have to have the screen on in order to do this. Just make sure not to turn off your phone and to not use a task killer because it will stop the tracking from happening!

  • I wish I could just save my favorite and most used bus stops

    • I created a way to set favorite stops. After setting your favorite stop (stops in Hi Bus Pro) you can load that stop just by pressing a button.

    This feature is available in both Hi Bus and Hi Bus Pro

    ***Hi Bus is limited to only 1 favorite stop.

    ***Hi Bus Pro can have unlimited favorite stops as well as a description to go along with each stop (example: "Home Bus Stop")
